
The Department of Statistics at the University of Connecticut is honored to announce the 32nd Distinguished Statistician Colloquium. The Pfizer colloquium series range from 1978 until 2012 and was renewed in 2018. The colloquium series featured C. R. Rao, Bradley Efron, D.R. Cox, Grace Wahba and many other distinguished statisticians. For a complete list, click HERE.
The purpose of the Colloquium is to provide a forum for a distinguished statistician to share and disseminate their unique perspective and work in the theory and/or application of statistics. Starting from 2018, the series has been co-sponsored by Pfizer, the American Statistical Association, and the Department of Statistics at the University of Connecticut.
This year’s speaker will be Robert T. O’Neill. Dr. O'Neill retired from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2018. At the time of his retirement, he served as the Senior Statistical Advisor in the Office of Translational Sciences in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER). Dr. O’Neill will present, "My perspective on the Evolution of Biostatistics in support of Pharmaceutical Regulation and Regulatory Science", under the auspices of the Pfizer Colloquia by Distinguished Statisticians in Honor of Dr. David S. Salsburg.
Following the lecture, Dr. O’Neill will participate in the Conversation with Distinguished Statisticians in Memory of Professor Harry O. Posten, an interview-style discussion led by Naitee Ting, Vice President, Veramed, and Adjunct Professor of Statistics, University of Connecticut, and Scott Evans, Professor and Founding Chair of the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health.
